WEEKEND SLATE

WEEKEND SLATE

Mike Stackhouse

The first year Churchbridge Imperials will be looking to grab a share of second place in the South Division when they host the Ituna Avalanche on Friday night to kick off the weekend slate of games.

Veteran Chris Korchinski has paced the Imperials with 5-goals in 2-games played.

The Avalanche will be looking for their first win of the season.

The Imperials will play back to back home games this weekend with Cote coming for a visit on Saturday.  The Selects are hoping to be in their new arena in early February with concrete being poured at the new facility mid next week.  The Selects have been vastly improved in year two of their squad and will be going into the game with a 2-and-3 record and led by Brennan Watson and Brandon Pelletier, who have both lit the lamp 7 times through the early going.

The headliner on Saturday will be 4-and-0 Rocanville at 3-and-1 Swan Valley.  Taylor Thompson has been as advertised for the Tigers, firing 11 goals and 17 points through four outings.  Carter Cockburn has picked up where he left off last year for Valley, collecting 15 points in 4 games.

2-and-1 Canora goes to 1-and-2 Langenburg as the Warriors look to get back on track as they've had a tough schedule to begin the year.  Rylan Palchewich has a 1.50-GAA through two starts and Logan Foster, back playing closer to home, has 7 points for the Cobras.  For the Warriors, Carter Olson has a shutout under his belt and Rylee Zimmer has a team leading 8 points.

Preeceville is at Theodore to round out the Saturday slate.  The Pats have just two goals in four games to show for, while the 3-and-1 Buffs are dealing with a rash of injuries but are still coming off a pair of wins last weekend and are once again paced by Derrick Schwartz, who has 12 points in 4 games.
