THEODORE, ROCANVILLE DRAW FIRST BLOOD

Mike Stackhouse

The Theodore Buffalos built up a 4-1 first period lead and hung on for a 5-4 win over the Swan Valley Axemen in game one of the best of five league semi-final on Friday night.

Zach Korchinski had two of the four goals in the opening twenty and it was a 5-2 game with under five to play when Swan Valley struck twice in a minute on goals from Kelly Gray and Josh Tripp.

Zach McIntyre, Kaeden Taphorn, and Keenan Taphorn also scored for the Buffs.  Tripp had two and Carter Cockburn also scored for the Axemen, who will host game two on Sunday at 4pm in Minitonas.

Thursday night, Ryan Regel's overtime winner gave the Rocanville Tigers a 4-3 win over Langenburg in game one of their best of five.

The TIgers let a 2-0 lead get away and the Warriors led 3-2 midway through the third when Jeremy Johnson scored the go ahead goal.  That was short lived as Ashley Howie tied it, forcing the extra session.

Howie and Dakota Odgers both had three points on a goal and two helpers.  Brett Hope also scored for Rocanville.

Rylee Zimmer, with three points, and Brenden Carlson also scored Langenburg.

Game two in this series will be played next Thursday in Langenburg.
