The second full regular season of the SEHL is in the books now it’s time for the playoffs. There are two familiar teams atop the league standings. Last year’s champion the Rocanvile Tigers finished first place in the South division with 30 points, one point up on second place Langenburg. In the North Division the Theodore Buffalos and Swan Valley Axemen finished tied for first but Theodore won the season series on goal differential against the Axemen.

The road to the North Division championship goes through Theodore. The Buffaloes begin their best of three first round series against the Grandview Comets Thursday February 9th in Theodore. Game two is scheduled Saturday February 18 in Grandview and should a game three be required it would be played in Theodore on a later date.

The winner of the Theodore/Grandview series will meet the winner of the Canora Cobras and Swan Valley Axemen in the North division final. On paper this series may look like a bit of a mismatch but the series is not played on paper. Swan Valley finished 11 points ahead of Canora during the regular season. The best of three series begins on February 11 at 8:00 pm in Swan Valley, game two will be in Canora on Friday February 17 at 8:15 pm then should a game three be required it would occur Sunday February 19th in Swan Valley.

The Rocanville Tigers are once again the kings of the jungle that is the SEHL South division. Last year's champions finished first in the South and will face off against the Ituna Avalanche. The Tigers finished 20 points ahead of the Avalanche in the regular season.

Game 1: Friday February 10 8:00 in Kelliher
Game 2: Thursday February 16 in Rocanville
Game 3: Friday February 17 in Rocanville

The 2 Vs 3 playoff series in the South is a battle of teams new to the SEHL. The Langenburg Warriors will battle the Wapella Blackhawks. The Warriors finished with 29 points one point behind the Tigers, the Blackhawks meanwhile ended their return campaign with 13 points.

Game 1: Thursday February 9 in Wapella 8:30 pm
Game 2: Tuesday February 14 in Langenburg at 8:00 pm
Game 3: Thursday February 16 in Langenburg at 8:00 pm

The first round of the playoffs may feature a few mismatches on paper but anything can happen in the postseason. All eight remaining teams will play hard and battle until the end. The playoffs are here! It’s the best time of the year!
