Rylee Zimmer scored two goals and Theo Toma recored the shutout as Langenburg blanked Wapella 4-0 in the opening game of their best of three SEHL quarter-final series on Thursday night.
The heavy underdog Hawks kept the game scoreless until Zimmer converted on a Nick Carlson set up with just under six minutes to go in the second period. Zimmer scored again midway through the third and then Carlson and Chad Kilimnik tacked on some insurance.
Meanwhile, Derrick Schwartz had a pair of goals to pace Theodore to a 6-2 opening game win over the Grandview Comets.
This was also a close game, knotted 1-1 until Dalane Lamb broke the deadlock midway through the second. Austin Dycer and Zach Korchinski upped the lead to 3-1 after forty.
Keanan Sperling also scored for the Buffs. Teegan Klemetski scored both Comets' goals.
