The Canora Cobras battled back from a 4-2 deficit and managed to scratch out a single point, but the Swan Valley Axemen maintained sole possession of second place in the North Division with a 5-4 overtime decision on Friday night.
Ryley Stefanyshyn scored late in the second and again early in the third to draw the Cobras to even terms but Josh Tripp's second of the game in the first minute of the extra session ended it for the 4-and-2 Axemen. The Cobras drop to 2-2-and-2.
Rocanville won for the seventh time in eight with a 7-2 decisive victory over Ituna. The Tigers built a 4-0 first period lead before settling in and cruising the rest of the way. Dylan Haney and Eric Lemoine each enjoyed three point games for the winning side.
Keeping pace with Rocanville, Langenburg downed Grandview 5-3 to move their record to 6-0-and-1. Jeremy Johnson did the bulk of the damage, tallying four times. The Comets fall to 2-and-6 with the defeat.
The marquee game on Saturday will be Cote against Canora. The Selects trail the Cobras by two points in the standings.
Langenburg is home to Ituna, while Rocanville welcomes Wapella. The Warriors are one point behind the Tigers in the standings and also have a game in hand.
Theodore is home to Grandview and will look to keep their lead atop the North as Swan Valley gets an automatic two points for a cancelled game against the defunct Whitewood Orioles.
