The Theodore Buffalos are one win away from winning the Emile Balogh Memorial Trophy after defeating the Rocanville Tigers 6-5, in overtime, on Saturday night to take a 2-1 series lead in the best of five final.
Mike Rogoschewsky scored the winner in what was an exciting back and forth affair that saw the Tigers score three in the third to erase a 4-2 defiict.
Dakota Odgers had a hat trick for Rocanville, including the tying goal with just under two minutes to play in regulation. Dylan Baer and Dawson Springer added singles. Randy Stowe had four assists.
Dylan Johnson had two for Theodore, including the go ahead goal after Rocanville battled back to tie it at 4. Tony Roebuck also had two and Derrick Schwartz contributed a goal and two assists.
Game four in the series will be played in Rocanville on Friday night.
The home team has won all three games in the series so far.
On Friday, Dawson Berezowski was the story in a goaltending duel with Warren Shymko in what amounted to a 3-2 victory for the Tigers as he closed the door on a surging Buffs team in the final moments to keep the lead in tact.
Scott Woytas opened the scoring with a top shelf redirect goal three and a half minutes into the game but Berezowski was perfect after that until Woytas scored again late in the third as part of the Buffs' charge.
Ashley Howie and Dylan Haney scored second period goals to put the Tigers in front 2-1 and then Ryan Regel added an insurance marker in the third, which proved to be the game winner.
