The Canora Cobras are off to a 2-and-0 start to their season after using a balanced scoring attack to down the Whitewood Orioles 11-3 on Friday night.
Tanner Denesowych and Kyle Yaremchuk both scored twice and enjoyed three point games while Brennan Watson scored a beauty and made a picturesque pass as part of a 5-goal first period barrage.
Brandon Whitehawk and Ryley Stefanyshyn had three point games as well with each player getting a goal and two assists. Donnie St Marie, Cole Rathgeber, Kody Rock, and Tanner Mak also lit the lamp for the Cobras.
Valdez Bear factored in on all three goals for the Orioles, scoring two. Daniel Fiske also scored for Whitewood.
The Cobras chased starting netminder Owen Bachtold from the game early in the second period after mounting a 7-1 lead. Kevin Kryger held the fort for the remainder of the period before allowing 4 in the third.
Adam Stokes made a number of highlight reel saves in the second period for Canora and earned the win.
