ROCANVILLE EDGES RIVAL MOOSOMIN

ROCANVILLE EDGES RIVAL MOOSOMIN

Late second period goals from Konrad McKay and Bud Holloway busted open a 3-3 game and sent the Rocanville Tigers to a 7-5 win over the Moosomin Rangers.

It was the first victory for the Tigers since the Spring of 2019 as they took last year off from the senior ranks.

Ashley Howie scored twice and Niko Grose collected three assists in the winning cause.

Dion Campbell, Dylan Bear, and rookie Dawson Springer rounded out the goal scoring for the Tigers.

Brayden Nabholz, Rykr Cole, and Cameron Maier each scored once and had two point games for the Rangers, who slip to 0-and-3.

Devin McGonigal and Justin Edin rounded out the offense for Moosomin, who will head to Rocanville on Saturday to try and steal one on the road.

Meanwhile, the newly formed Canora Cobras won their first game by drilling the hometown Hudson Bay Hunters 13-1.

Logan Foster got the onslaught started with two goals in the first ten minutes and then Kody Rock and Ryley Stefanyshyn tacked on two more to make it a 4-0 game after one.

Hudson Bay got one back early in the second as Cody Chasse scored just over a minute and a half into the middle frame; but the Cobras struck for three in a 56-second span later in the period on goals from Rock, Stefanyshyn and Logan Hilderman.

Stefanyshyn finshed the hat trick in the third, increasing the lead to 8-1 before William Hauber lit the lamp twice 1:08 apart to make it 10-1.  Foster got his hat trick goal midway through the third and then Cole Rathgeber and Sean Kolodziejski got in on the offense to close out the scoring.

The Cobras will play their home opener on Saturday against Ituna.
